What this experiment does

Unlike the Fun famous-distance tool (race rescale into marathons and track laps), this experiment uses geographic city-to-city distances.

Run Somewhere auto-matches your year. Famous Journey lets you choose the destination.

How it works

Yearly km = weekly × 52. Percent of route = yearly ÷ journey km. Years to finish = journey km ÷ (weekly × 52).

Great-circle kilometres, not driving or hiking routes. Steady weekly volume assumed.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the Fun famous-distance calculator?

No. That Fun page rescales kilometres into marathons, 5Ks, and track laps. This experiment times geographic journeys.

Where do the city distances come from?

Rounded great-circle figures curated for the experiment catalog — good enough for jokes, not for navigation.
