What this experiment does

Project future kilometres, divide by lifespan per pair, multiply by cost per pair.

Running Cost totals this year’s spending categories. Lifetime Shoes counts future pairs only.

How it works

Lifetime km = weekly × 52 × years. Pairs = lifetime km ÷ km per pair. Spend = pairs × cost per pair.

Assumes constant weekly mileage and a fixed pair lifespan. Sales, rotations, and “one more season” are ignored.

Frequently asked questions

What lifespan should I use?

Many runners rotate shoes around 500–800 km. Default is 700 km — adjust to your brand and body.

Is this financial advice?
