Pace Calculator

Set finish time, pace, speed, or any split; the rest stay even.

Last reviewed 25 August 2026

A 10K is 10 kilometres (6.214 miles). A 50:00 10K requires 5:00/km or 8:03/mile, with 5K at 25:00 on even splits. Change finish time, pace, speed, or any checkpoint; the rest follow. Exact arithmetic, not a 5K-to-10K prediction.

What this result means

A 10K is 10 kilometres, or 6.214 miles. This calculator turns a goal into average pace, speed, and even kilometre or mile splits. Edit finish time, pace, speed, or a checkpoint clock — the rest stay even. The distance is locked.

Road 10Ks sit between a hard 5K and a half marathon. This page does not scale a 5K into a 10K. For that equivalent, use the race time predictor. For training paces from a 10K result, use the training pace calculator.

A 50:00 10K requires 5:00/km or 8:03/mile. You would pass 5K in 25:00 on even splits. A 42:00 10K is 4:12/km or 6:46/mile — a different session from a 5:00/km 10K, not a rounding of it.

A 60:00 10K is 6:00/km or 9:39/mile. Many first 10Ks live near that hour. The split table still assumes even pace; a conservative first 2 km and a faster last 3 km can still hit 60:00 without matching every row.

Calculation method

Pace is finish time divided by 10 kilometres (or 6.214 miles). Each split is target time multiplied by (split distance ÷ 10 km). Change any one of those numbers and the others rescale to the same even pace. Displayed times round to the nearest second.

This is exact arithmetic, not a prediction of how the second 5K will feel. Fatigue is real; the formula does not model it.

A 10K is long enough that even splits are a tactic, not a law. Wind, hills, and drinks stations move the clock. The average pace is still the number you have to average.

Frequently asked questions

What pace is a 50-minute 10K?

5:00 per kilometre, or about 8:03 per mile. Even splits put 5K at 25:00.

What pace is a 42-minute 10K?

4:12 per kilometre, or about 6:46 per mile. Type 42:00, 4:12/km, or a 5K split of 21:00 — the table stays even.

How does a 10K pace compare with 5K pace?

This page does not convert a 5K into a 10K. It only splits a 10K target. Use the race time predictor for equivalent performances.

Is 10K the same as 6.2 miles?

10 kilometres is 6.2137 miles, usually shown as 6.214. Some US road 10Ks are certified in metres, not a round 6.2 miles.

Where is the full split table?

This page locks 10K and shows even pace plus checkpoints. Open the race split calculator for any other distance, or the kilometre split calculator for every 1 km row.
